My sister Lisa watched my kids for just a couple hours last week and after just that short visit, had a great story to tell. Without further ado, and in her own words, here it is:
"When my sister asked if I wanted to be a guest blogger, I was honored but a bit afraid-this is SERIOUS business! But then, this isn’t about me… it’s all about the kids, right? And that is probably really why Shari asked me to write the blog-I spent quality time with the kids last Friday.
Shari needed me to watch the kids while she went to a photo shoot and since it was on her way, I told her to drop the kids off at my house. My friend Nancy stopped over as she had been wanting to meet the kids and we proceeded to draw and watch cartoons. The kids, Aidan especially, were shy at first when Nancy stopped by, but it didn’t take long and they were happy to have her there- crawling all over her and telling her life stories. As we were busily writing our names, drawing houses and cars, Ellie promptly stood up and announced to us that she had two talents-drawing and singing. I was impressed as I had no idea! She then asked Nancy and I if we would like to hear her sing and before we could respond, she informed us that she sings “Oprah”. As she had her hand on her throat she gave us a little, well, what I would describe as a warm-up yodel. Then, with her hand still on her throat, she told us this song was something her Mom sang to her at bedtime, and then began the lovely song of “You are my sunshine, my only sunshine”. Concerned, I asked why she had her hand on her throat. She paused for just a second, put her hand to her side, and continued singing…as her hand slid back up to her throat. When she was finished, we clapped and she took a bow as all great Oprah singers do. I only wished I had had a video camera because it was very sweet."

So the mystery still remains...why did she put her hand on her throat? Maybe she liked feeling the vibration of her vocal cords on her hand?
