Ellie funnies and sicko Aidan

Ellie's been full of jokes these past couple weeks; Dave's only fueling the fire. She finally has one "true" joke under her belt that she remembers and repeats: How did the soup lose it's job? It got canned! Ok, maybe not the most PC joke with these current economic conditions, but we'll give her a break since she's only 3.
She's also been saying some funny things lately. Recently she told me she really likes ketchup because "it's kind of spicy." Spoken like a true Minnesotan! And the swimsuit she wore swimming last weekend? She kept calling it her "zucchini" instead of bikini. And finally, we were having some wonderful fresh corn on the cob the other night and I'd mentioned how much I loved it. Dave wisecracked that maybe I should marry it but Ellie admonished him saying, "Dad, that's silly. Corn can't wear a wedding dress because they don't wear clothes."

The babies (can I call 1 year-olds babies anymore??) continue to grow like weeds. Zoe passed her eye exam with flying colors. Maddie is starting to stand on her own more and more. Aidan, however, has had a pretty tough week. He spiked a fever last Sunday and by Monday morning it was 102.5. I think he topped out at 103.5 on Wednesday morning and was diagnosed later that day with strep. The Dr. was also thinking it might be something called roseola which consists of several days of a high fever followed by a rash when the fever breaks, but gave us an antibiotic for the strep anyway. You guessed it, Friday morning the kid woke up with a rash all over his torso. Thankfully the girls haven't picked up either the strep or roseola (yet!) even while in such close contact with Aidan. He seemed to be finally feeling like himself today until he got his ring finger slammed in the door leading to the garage. Very hard to try to keep ice on it when he's trying to suck the thumb on the same hand to comfort himself. That kid sure can scream! Poor guy.

We did manage a little picnic over snack time on Friday at the neighborhood park since it was so nice out, and even stuck everyone in our kiddie pool today since the thermometer finally topped 80 in who knows how long. Ellie and Zoe are both in "zucchinis". :) Enjoy the pics!
