Where has the summer gone?? Hard to believe it's already September!
Ellie had her preschool orientation last week and met her teachers; she's SO excited! She starts this Thursday and then will go every Tuesday and Thursday morning from 9 to 11:30. I can't wait! She really needs the social interaction that she's been missing since we took her out of daycare last year. She's going to benefit so much from being around other kids again. It will be very different to only have the triplets here on those mornings. Ellie will also be starting up swimming lessons this Thursday, so that'll be a busy day for us.
We took everyone to the State Fair on the first Friday of the fair; we'd only intended to go for a few hours but ended up staying most of the day. It was SO crowded and ended up being tough to maneuver the crowds with the triple stroller, even though we avoided the barns, coliseum, and other busy buildings. The kids seemed to all have a good time and got their initiation into the world of cheese curds and Sweet Martha's cookies. Yum! My dad met us there and it was nice to have another adult to help with the kids. Ellie had a blast at the Kidway and got to ride the Giant Slide -once with me, and once with Dave. Ellie and I went back to the Fair with my mom about a week later and got to see a few more things that we didn't get to with the babies.
Aidan is officially a walker - he's cruising very well and getting into absolutely everything. He's even figured out how to climb onto the couch! Zoe's new nickname is "Scooter" as she started scooting around on her butt almost 2 weeks ago. She keeps her left leg tucked close to her, puts her hands on the floor, and then uses her right leg to propel herself forward. It looks really funny but she's getting pretty fast and can cross the room pretty quickly. We're just so relieved that she's finally on the move that we don't mind so much when she starts getting into things too. We really need to take some video of her unconventional motoring around.
Today Maddie took her first steps! She's getting more steady on her feet and we've caught her standing by herself a few times, and she's also mastered the stairs, finally.
We've been keeping the local pharmacies in business lately too: Maddie and Zoe finally succumbed to strep and roseola last week. We'd planned to go to my dad's cabin for Labor Day weekend but ended up staying home since the kids were sick. Hopefully we'll make it up there at least once more this fall before we close it up for the winter.
