Zoo, Leaves, 15 mo. checkups, and Bert & Ernie!

Another busy weekend! Dave and Ellie made it to the Minnesota Zoo on Saturday morning, Ellie in her monkey costume from last year. The zoo had some Halloween treats and activities and the two of them had a blast! After lunch and afternoon naps we all made it outside to start raking leaves - and playing in them, of course. Aidan, Maddie, and Zoe weren't too sure about being in the leaf pile but Ellie has been looking forward to it all year, so she took advantage of it! Aidan even helped out with the raking. Then on Sunday afternoon, my sisters and I brought Ellie to see "Bert and Ernie, Goodnight!" at the Children's Theater. She loved it! It was a really cute show and the actors really got into the characters so it was fun even for us adults who grew up with Sesame Street.
The babies all had a relatively rough week: last Sunday Aidan slipped and fell on our wooden steps and cut his chin, and he still has a nasty looking bruise there. On Wednesday, Maddie fell and hit her mouth on the corner of our brick fireplace hearth and I think one of her bottom front teeth went through her lip. The lip still looks a little puffy but since it stopped bleeding fairly quickly, the doctor said she didn't need stitches. And in case you're wondering, we used to have bumpers on the hearth since Ellie was a baby but these three keep pulling them off, otherwise she wouldn't have gotten hurt. Then on Friday, Zoe tipped over and fell face first into Ellie's doll stroller and now has a big, ugly scrape/bruise on her cheek. Yes, I was present for all three injuries, but kids will be kids! And to top it all off, they had their 15 month checkups on Thursday and each got 2 shots, including the seasonal flu shot. As much as I hate to see them in pain and the fever they had for the next 24 hours from the vaccines, I was especially glad they were able to get the flu shots! Aidan is as usual doing just wonderfully, but the doctor is a little concerned about Maddie's and Zoe's weights, and they both lost weight since their last weigh-in, so we'll be tracking those a little more closely. Here are their stats - as usual, percentiles are compared to full term babies - and more pictures from this weekend:
Aidan - 32 3/4 inches tall (90th percentile), 24 lbs, 12 oz (53rd percentile).
Maddie - 30 inches (34th percentile), 18 lbs 1-1/2 oz. (1st percentile).
Zoe - 26 1/4 inches tall and 13 lbs, 7 1/2 oz. Still not on the charts yet.
