Cabin weekend Part II

Ok, here's the story on last weekend. Dave had taken Friday off and we packed up the kids that morning and left right after lunch to go to the cabin - hoping they would sleep in the car on the way there. That worked for the most part. The littles (I can't call them babies anymore!) were too young to remember the cabin from last summer so it took them a little while to get used to the place. Everything was fine until it was time for bed. We set up the 3 pack-n-plays in the 2nd bedroom (my dad had the other bedroom) and the plan was to put the littles to bed around their usual bedtime, and then my sister, Lisa, and I would share the bed in there when we went to bed later on. Dave and Ellie were going to share the pull-out couch.

The littles had other ideas.

I'll spare you all the details, but after several hours of screaming, switching places, rocking, cuddling, etc., I ended up sleeping on the floor of the living room with Aidan and Maddie. Zoe was strapped to her car seat for a couple hours before joining us on the floor. Dave and Ellie were on the couch, and Lisa had the 2nd bedroom to herself. It was not fun.

Saturday was beautiful, and Dave and I took Ellie and the littles for a LONG walk that morning in their strollers. We then managed to put both the dock and pontoon in the water while the babies napped (I think they were so exhausted from the night before, as well as the fresh air that morning, that they finally conked out at nap time in their pack-n-plays). Ellie was pretty wiped out too and crashed on the arm of the couch, sleeping right through dinner Saturday night!

Sunday was also beautiful, and Dave and Ellie got some fishing in - Ellie had gotten a Dora fishing pole for Christmas and she did a great job breaking it in by catching 8 crappies! She was so excited, and Dave was very proud.

We had one stop to make on the way home - at Ellie's Ice Cream Shop in Amery! She thinks the shop is named after her so we had to make a special trip there to pick up some t-shirts and of course, ice cream - which was SO yummy! I just had to laugh at the picture of Aidan and Ellie sitting at the counter - it's a terrible picture, and I'd meant to focus on them instead of Dave and the girls in the background, but after downloading the pictures we noticed that Maddie was having a great time cleaning the ice cream off of Dave's face! Too funny.

Great pictures, as usual. It is fun watching the kids grow (through the internet anyway).
