Apples and a smorgasbord

Guess what we did this weekend? Among many other things, we finally made it to the apple orchard! Though overall it was a COMPLETE disaster, we did get a few cute photos before all the meltdowns. I'll spare you the details -mainly because I don't even want to think about how awful it was! I absolutely love this picture of Maddie from today:

And I got at least one photo of all four of the kids together - and they're all smiling!

Here are a couple more:

The rest of this weekend was pretty crazy but not in a fun way. This ended up being a "project" weekend as we were busy refinishing some of our wood windows as well as a bed for Aidan. Aidan can now easily climb out of his crib so we've been feeling some pressure to get his "big boy" bed ready for him. Aidan also got a long over-due haircut; he looks like such a big kid now! He could easily pass for three!
Dave took Wednesday afternoon off this week and we took all the kids to Nickelodeon Adventures at the Mall of America as we had some passes that expired at the end of September. Dave and Ellie braved the Log Chute ride, and lucked out by staying mostly dry! We managed to get all the kids on at least a few of the rides, though Zoe was initially pretty wary of them. By the end of the afternoon, though, she, along with Maddie and Ellie, had ridden the carousel three times and loved it! Ellie went on almost every ride that she was tall enough for and had a blast.

Last weekend we brought the kids up to Sartell to visit my grandma as we hadn't seen her since March. She couldn't quite remember who I was, but she sure remembered the triplets and Ellie!

School is going well for Ellie, she's got 2 weeks under her belt already and has made a couple new friends too. She had her first "time out" last week along with 3 other girls at school: all the kids had been playing in their large muscle room (gym) and these girls were getting too loud and were screaming. When they didn't quiet down after a warning, all 4 girls were given a time out, and they had to sit down by the wall for a while and just watch the other kids play. Ellie told me about it in the car on the way home and adamently denied that she was screaming (I have to say I don't quite believe her). I had to stifle a laugh though as she told me about the time out and said, quite seriously, "Mommy, it was horrible". Hopefully she learned her lesson, though.
Ellie has also completed 3 weeks of Pike swimming lessons at the Y and is doing very well! Maybe THIS time she might pass and be able to move on to the next level??? We'll know in another couple weeks!
