I spoke with Zoe's endocrinologist from Children's Hospital this morning to get the results of her bone age and blood tests she had done during our last visit. Her celiac test was negative, as we expected, and her bone age is the same as her chronological age. He said that that combined with her current rate of growth indicates she's going to be well below average height at full maturity: she'll likely be shorter than 4'9" without any intervention. His recommendation is to proceed with growth hormone treatments after she turns 3. So, I'm wondering, do any of you know of anyone who has had growth hormone treatments for themselves or their children? Looks like that's something we'll have to consider and it's hard to find anything online that doesn't have to do with bodybuilding. Any advice would be appreciated! We see him again this summer to get more information and make a decision on how we're going to proceed. My concerns about her being so much shorter than average are mostly in regard to her self-esteem, especially with a twin sister who will be of average height. Although, Zoe could turn out to be a world-class gymnast or jockey! :)
