This Mother's Day was a little bittersweet for our family as my mom's mom, Grandma Ida, passed away a little more than a week ago at the age of 91. She's definitely in a better place but we still miss her terribly and of course wish we'd had more time with her. I have a lot of fond memories of my Grandma, and even lived with her and my Grandpa for a year when I was a student at SCSU. I know we were all thinking of her today.
On a brighter note, we got great news from Maddie's cardiologist that the hole in her heart (her ASD) seems to have closed on its own. She has an innocent murmur that's more audible when she's sick, which is what our pediatrician heard this spring, but she does not need surgery and was given a clean bill of health. We all breathed a huge sigh of relief!
We spent a couple hours this morning celebrating Mother's Day at Como Zoo with my mom and sisters and managed to avoid Como Town; it was a really nice way to start the day. Dave and the kids then took me out to lunch and then we took the kids home and let them take a nice long nap while I mopped the floor. (Yes, this was MY idea - there are times when I really enjoy cleaning - especially when I can do it without interruption!). I then scooted out of the house for a little me-time: shopping at my favorite store, TJ Maxx/HomeGoods, and then enjoying a coffee in peace and quiet at Caribou. After dinner we took a short walk around the neighborhood.
