First Day of Kindergarten!

I was so proud of you today, Ellie. I know you were nervous first thing this morning, but when it was time to go, you didn't show it. As soon as that bus pulled up, you raced right on over to it - I had to pull you back for one last hug and kiss before sending you off to Kindergarten. With just a quick turn and wave back to us, you flashed up the steps and into the first seat behind the driver, and then didn't look back. How I wish I had your bravery and sense of adventure! You made a friend today too - a girl in your class named Madison. You make friends so easily, I pray that continues for you the rest of your life so you'll always be surrounded by friends and people who love you  - almost as much as I do. This morning I kept thinking of how small you seemed to me when you were born, and how quickly you've grown into such a sweet, beautiful, smart, and funny little girl and I admit I got a little teary as the bus pulled away. I'll miss you every minute you're at school even though I'm as excited as you are for everything you get to do and learn.

Your bus was early dropping you off this afternoon; I was just putting on my shoes to head outside when I heard your bus come to a stop at our corner, so I didn't have the camera ready. But I was so happy to be able to welcome you home - you bounded off the bus and cautiously waited until you could cross the road safely - as you've learned to do - and then you came running right into my arms, a huge grin on your face, yelling, "I loved it!" As I knew you would.

I loved how you wrote that to her! What a special memory for her to read someday when she is older. :)
