Yesterday the kids and I were playing with their doctor kit. Aidan used his blood pressure cuff on me and proudly announced, "Mom, your blood pressure is 9 o'clock!"

Just keep swimming!

This spring Dave and I decided to build a pool in our backyard. We'd put down sod and landscaped it all last spring soon after we moved in, but the yard is really small and it was hard for us all to play in the yard without crashing into plants along the wall or sending balls and frisbees into the neighbors' yards. The kids are at a great age for a pool and we figure it was now or never to do it! Here was one of the initial rough designs, which, other than the grass, is a fairly good representation of the finished product:

In need of inspiration!

Since the birth of our triplets almost 3 years ago, I've finally found an outlet for my creative side: photography! I've always had a yearning to do something creative, yet I can't even draw stick figures, Dave says I sing like a sick bird, and I haven't been able to learn how to sew. I've tried stamping and scrapbooking, which I enjoy, but I've always ended up making my cards and pages similar to others I found in magazines or online. But I finally bought my first DSLR camera, a Canon Rebel, after I had the triplets and while I still have a LOT to learn about photography, I'm really enjoying the learning process and have already seen a marked improvement in the images I've captured since then. I've also taken two workshops and two classes so far which have helped tremendously and taught me quite a bit. My equipment is not quite of professional caliber but you have to start somewhere, right? And it's truly something I love; I'm always excited...

A Say What Wednesday guest post - Ellie sings Oprah!

My sister Lisa watched my kids for just a couple hours last week and after just that short visit, had a great story to tell. Without further ado, and in her own words, here it is: "When my sister asked if I wanted to be a guest blogger, I was honored but a bit afraid-this is SERIOUS business! But then, this isn’t about me… it’s all about the kids, right? And that is probably really why Shari asked me to write the blog-I spent quality time with the kids last Friday. Shari needed me to watch the kids while she went to a photo shoot and since it was on her way, I told her to drop the kids off at my house. My friend Nancy stopped over as she had been wanting to meet the kids and we proceeded to draw and watch cartoons. The kids, Aidan especially, were shy at first when Nancy stopped by, but it didn’t take long and they were happy to have her there- crawling all over her and telling her life stories.
