Our poor kiddos have had a rough week. If you've been wondering why I haven't been posting any photos since Halloween, well, I just realized today that I haven't taken any! We've been battling some stomach flu here since last weekend when Aidan woke us up around 3 a.m. on Sunday saying he'd "hiccupped" in his bed. Guess what, folks, it wasn't a hiccup! I spent the rest of the night with him and a bucket on the couch but other than being really tired, he seemed fine the rest of the day. We've had a pretty busy week and Dave's been working some longer hours at work lately, so after giving me this past Thursday off, Dave decided we needed a night out for dinner. While at the restaurant, Aidan got sick again. Twice. I won't mention the restaurant but for those of you who know of the last incident of Karnowski children vomiting at a restaurant: it wasn't the same place. He seemed OK once we got him home and to bed, and the other 3 were OK up to that point too. Dave had Friday off so he and I spent all day getting our family room ready to paint: spackling, sanding, moving furniture, taping, etc. We got the kids to bed at 8 pm and I ran out to buy the paint; we figured we'd get one coat on the walls that night and do a second coat, if needed, in morning. Within about 30 minutes of being home, Zoe became sick. After debating for a while about going ahead with painting, we decided against it and Dave went to bed. I was on the couch with Zoe (and the bucket) when I heard Maddie start crying shortly afterwards. Dave soon brought her down too and they both joined Zoe and me on the couch. To make a long story short, it was a very rough night at our house. We still managed to paint while the triplets were napping on Saturday afternoon and spent Saturday night after they went to bed putting the room back together. Is it wrong to be happy that this weekend is over?? So far, Ellie, Dave and I managed to escape the flu. Knock on wood.
I attended my first parent-teacher conference with Ellie's teacher last week. Mrs. Anger (yes, that's her real name, and actually she's very nice!) was SO complimentary of Ellie, saying she's so clearly eager to learn, she's a great listener and helper, and gets along well with all the other kids. I left feeling very proud of Ellie, and since I wasn't going right back home, I'd called Dave to relay what Mrs. Anger had said and he then shared it with Ellie. Ellie looked relieved and told Dave, "I thought she was going to say something bad!" Now, what on earth would a kindergartner have to be worried about at parent-teacher conferences???
I'll try to do a better job this week of taking pictures. Of my own kids, that is.
