As I'm sitting here typing, Dave's scurrying around picking up our cluttered family room so my Mom doesn't have to deal with the detritus of our busy weekend when she comes over tomorrow to watch the kids while we're at work. I know I should probably help him, but...it's Mother's Day. The one day a year I can legitimately not be expected to do very much. And I took full advantage of it today - even sneaking in a nap (gasp!). It was a beautiful weekend; we hit the Mpls Farmer's Market yesterday and had a few munchies there while also picking up some veggie plants for our minuscule garden. After a quick stop for lunch at the Rusty Taco on the way home we played out in the backyard the rest of the day, the kids quickly shedding their clothes after digging out the dusty squirt guns from last summer and soaking each other.

We had dinner alfresco on the patio with half our kids half naked -thank goodness for a tall wooden fence. Today I was treated to breakfast in bed and then tonight we met with my mom and sister for an evening picnic at the beach. Our picnic could only have been made better had we brought swimsuits for the kids to play in rather than regular clothes which they, again, quickly soaked. Best part of all? Ellie lost her first tooth tonight while biting into her sandwich at the beach! Dave and I thought for sure that tooth would take about another week to come out, and she actually started to panic when she first noticed it was gone but thankfully we found it right away. She's so excited for the Tooth Fairy to come tonight! It's so fun for me too to share her excitement - what a fun way to end Mother's Day weekend! I'm SO llucky to have such beautiful, smart, funny, loving, and sweet kids.
