Last week we learned that Aidan needed glasses; he'd failed his vision test at his kindergarten screening this spring, and then again at his 4 yr checkup with the pediatrician. We had to wait a while for an appt with an optrician but finally got him in last week. Dave has pretty poor eyesight and got eyeglasses when he was in elementary school but I was still surprised to learn that Aidan is quite nearsighted in his right eye and a little bit in his left. The next day we picked out his eyeglasses and today they were ready! We've been really talking up his glasses and even got a book from the library about animals wearing glasses to get him excited about them. I think he looks so cute in them. His first comment: "Wow, my shoes look SO big!" Everyone in the office cracked up. He never said anything about having trouble seeing until last week after his appt: he held one hand over his left eye and said I looked blurry (from across the room). Thankfully he's already said everything is so much clearer with his glasses - now we just have to keep encouraging him so he wears them all the time! My big guy is growing up!
