We're back! From our wonderful trip to San Diego, that is. I've been working steadily on culling and editing our photos from the trip, so hopefully I'll be able to blog about the whole thing very soon. In a nutshell - it was FUN, and the kids were great!
In the meantime, I've come to the realization that the kids are old enough to need their own computer(s) - yesterday there was quite a bit offighting discussion over who was going to use my laptop to play their PBS computer games, and Ellie's been asking to do some additional typing practice. I think it's time for them to start to use a mouse and keyboard - though Aidan's already pretty proficient with the mouse. So, here's the situation: I have a 6 yr old desktop which works just OK - it's rarely used. About 2-3 years ago I replaced it with a laptop, which I use constantly along with an external monitor - a necessity for photo editing. This laptop is OK for me for now though it can become quite slow at times when I'm editing photos, which is a pain in the butt.
Here's are the options I can come up with:
A. Clean up the desktop computer and give it to the kids to use for now. I'd need to get a 2nd monitor as I'd still need one for my laptop.
B. Give the kids my laptop and get a new system for myself.
C. Get a new system for the kids and keep my current laptop and monitor. (Boo!)
D. Get tablets for the kids -at the rate they've been using my Nook and Dave's tablet (which conked out on our vacation) along with their LeapPad - they'd probably each need their own. I'm not talking iPads, just basic tablets.
