Our CA trip: Day 5- the beach

Our trip to San Diego would have been incomplete without a day at the beach. I'd envisioned just relaxing on a blanket on the sand, soaking up the sun while the kids hunted for shells and played with the tide. I didn't expect a rather cold, cloudy, windy day and almost no shells to be found anywhere! I'd still take that day that we did spend at the beach over any cold, cloudy winter day in MN anytime. We started at Mission Beach but as there were hardly any shells there, we packed up our soggy selves (we did play in the cold water, and a few of us got a little wetter than others - right, Aidan?) and then had a quick picnic lunch in the grass at Coronado before spending a little more time pounding the sand there. The sun finally peeked out while we were in Coronado and as always, the sights and sounds of the ocean were truly spectacular. I can't imagine I'd ever get tired of it if I lived there. Anyway, we did find a few shells that we brought home with us to help us remember our fun trip!

Had to stop at the local tourist trap for t-shirts and trying on fun sunglasses!
