I wish I could say Mother's Day today was perfect, but let's be real - our normal life is far from it and I've learned expecting perfection only leads to disappointment. All I wanted for Mother's Day was a clean house and kids that got along for one entire day. Our weekend was mostly filled with errands, grocery shopping, yardwork, and shuttling kids to and from a birthday party, so the house cleaning didn't get done. And we had a very rough morning today with kids fighting over every little thing. But we finally got out to enjoy the somewhat cool but sunny afternoon at the MN Landscape Arboretum. Despite the rough start to the day, being with my favorite people enjoying the beauty of nature made it all better. Our late spring meant the flowers and trees are also blooming late this year, but it was beautiful nonetheless, and kabobs on the grill made a perfect ending to my Mother's Day. And, last but not least, Happy 30th Birthday to my little sister, Katie!
