What happened to May?

So, my last blog entry was May 12. Today is July 10. What happened to the rest of May, June, and the beginning of July? Honestly? I just haven't felt like blogging. Yes, we're busy, but probably no busier than normal. The kids have been....shall we say...challenging lately? I guess a multitude of factors have left blogging far down on my list of things to do that never seems to get done. Yesterday the kids pulled out our "blog books" - I make a hard-cover book of each year's blog entries - and were having such a good time looking at old photos and reading stories of fun and funny things they've done and said. And I was reminded of how important it is to record this time with them, the good and the challenging times. So here I am to start playing catch up. Without further ado, here's the remainder of May (the last days of school MUST get blogged before the new school starts!):

Ellie's first grade spring concert - she had a speaking role

Ellie and her wonderful 1st grade teacher, Mrs. Thompson, and the hardcover book she created about hummingbirds

First time bowlers celebrating their cousin Kaden's birthday at Classic Bowl in Coon Rapids; it was the first time I've ever bowled where our game ended due to time, not because we'd finished all ten frames. Bowling with kids takes a little longer!

Zoe gets a little air!

I think Maddie loved the cupcakes more than the bowling!

Ellie's school has an annual spring carnival; this year the weather wasn't great so it was mainly indoors, with inflatables, games for the kids, a petting zoo, and of course, crazy hair coloring. Ellie's having a blast with wacky hair, holding a chicken:

Last day of preschool for the triplets! They've loved their teachers, Mrs. Riopel and Mrs. Menk, who were Ellie's teachers as well. They'll be back at Grace Preschool in the fall for one more year before kindergarten, but they'll have different teachers and a different classroom.

.....

I had so much fun chaperoning Ellie's class field trip to Gale Woods Farm in Minnestrista. Right after we arrived, Ellie was put to work milking a cow, which she thought was awesome! Among other things, she and her class also got to see an egg incubator, walk through a chicken coop, pet sheep, go on a tractor ride, learn about how fruits and vegetables grow in the garden, and make a bracelet from a sheep's wool.

Ellie later told me that one of her favorite parts of the field trip was meeting the two dogs whose job it is to protect the sheep at night from coyotes. The farm has 2 Great Pyrenees, and though they are definitely working dogs, they were so incredibly gentle with the kids, and so unbelievably huge!

Ellie's last days of school included a 1-mile fun run (Ellie is just left of center in the pink shorts with the water bottle). Aidan, Maddie and I headed over there to cheer her on at the last curve:

And, finally, we had to do something special to mark the occasion of Ellie's last day of school! Way to go, Ellie! We're so proud of you!
