June, Part 1: The Best Laid Plans

The kids and I started this summer with all kind of plans for things to do, places to go, people to see. Now, it's August and while we've crossed a few things off our summer bucket list, there just aren't enough days left to accomplish everything we'd hoped to do! I'd come across another blog online that outlined each weekday with a different theme, and I figured that would help give us some direction to our days. Thus began our summer of:
"Make-it Mondays" - we would make SOMETHING - even if it's just play-doh or lego creations, we'd try to be creative.
"Take-a-Trip Tuesdays"  - we would go somewhere. Anywhere - from the library to a state park.
"Wet Wednesdays" - do something involving water. The sprinkler, a beach, etc.
"Thinking Thursdays" - Research something we've always wanted to know more about.
"Friend Fridays" - we'd try to schedule playdates for Fridays.
Dave and I also discussed with the kids the need to be flexible; depending on what else was going on each week, we might have to flip flop days. While as I said before, we weren't 100% successful in keeping to these days or getting to do all we'd wanted to, it certainly helped the kids and me come up with ideas of how to fill our days.
We are MN Zoo members and tend to go there quite a bit. Our first summer trip there had to include a visit to the splash pad there, which the kids LOVE! We visited the Dinosaur exhibit again, and thankfully no one was scared this year!

We also got to witness a really cool bear fight!
Say "cheese!"
