Looks like I last left off blogging our normal activities in June. As I've probably mentioned before, I mainly write this blog for the kids; each year I print out all the blog entries and photos bound as a hardcover book, and they love to look through them and see what we've been doing and how much they've changed. Funny that it's these same little buggers that make it so hard to take the time to blog! I had to pull out my calendar to figure out just what we were doing in June! We started the month with a belated birthday lunch for my little sister,
Katie. She turned 30 this year and the kids LOVED the excuse to go to
Benihana to celebrate!
Shortly thereafter, we had another reason to celebrate: Father's Day! We headed over to one of our favorite summer spots, Lebanon Hills, for a little picnic and hike around the lake. It was a gorgeous day but with our late spring, the water was still a little too chilly for swimming. We made the best of it though and really enjoyed the sunshine and fresh air.
June wouldn't be complete without a trip to the cabin. The kids were all so eager to go fishing and were thrilled to find that the fish must've been hungry after the long winter!
At the beginning of the summer, we gave the kids a couple choices of classes to take for the summer. The girls all chose gymnastics, and Aidan chose tee-ball, which didn't start until July. Luckily Ellie's class was immediately after Maddie and Zoe's, which was convenient. They loved it!

Finally, as we started our "Make it Monday" activities, we made our own strawberry jam! We never made it out to pick strawberries, so we had to settle with some from Costco, but it still tasted SO good!
