This August we made our second trip to the Twin Cities Polish Festival in Minneapolis - always a fun time and a good excuse to eat pierogi, people watch, and traipse around the Mississippi riverfront. We made our first excursion to Kramarczuk's for lunch and authentic Eastern European food since the pierogi we'd tried at the first Polish Fest were a little disappointing. Kramarczuk's did not disappoint, however- delish! - even though their pierogi are actually called varenyky, which is Ukranian.

There are some truly great sites in this part of town for taking photos - especially portraits - and even though the kids weren't dressed for pictures, they were in the mood to pose! I couldn't pass up the opportunity. ;)
Of course, this was the result of my effort to get a group shot:

Also in August: Chick-fil-A didn't open in Apple Valley until this fall, but to promote the restaurant this summer they threw a bash at the local soccer fields with free food and hot air balloon rides. The kids were enormously disappointed that the line was too long for us to take a ride in the balloon, but they still liked meeting the famous Chick-fil-A cows.
