We also made more construction paper bats to hang on our wall as well as at Lisa's house, but the kids had another idea for them:
Finally, the big day arrived! Grandma made costumes for Aidan (bear) and Zoe (black cat), and Maddie wore the same dog costume Grandma had made for her last year. The celebration started with a short program at the kids' preschool, where they sang a few songs for us and showed off their costumes:
I had just a few minutes after the preschool parade to drive over to Ellie's elementary school in time to help her put on her makeup for her Zombie Princess costume and get ready for the all-school Halloween parade:
Finally, it was time for trick-or-treating! Dave, Lisa and I took them out while Grandma handed out candy at our house; Grandma stayed with us around our block and then went home to relieve Lisa, who joined us for another street. There were two "scary" houses in our neighborhood, which one or two of our kids wouldn't go near (I won't name names) but otherwise they had a blast, and came home tired but with nearly full candy buckets. Mission accomplished!
